Position Summary: The Department of Education’s Division of School Facilities (DSF) is dedicated to providing a safe, clean, and comfortable environment that is conducive in educating and nurturing our children in the most economical and efficient manner possible. DSF oversees approximately 130 million square feet of floor space in over 1,300 separate sites throughout the five boroughs of the City of New York. DSF employs approximately 400 mechanics, 800 custodian engineers, 100 building managers, and approximately 300 other employees with administrative or technical expertise in the fields of facilities management, engineering, environmental health, administration, accounting, construction, planning, and project management. In addition to day-to-day operations, DSF is working on several initiatives that will add overall value to work performed and support high-level Mayoral initiatives.
The Coordinator, DSF Initiatives will perform functions related to programmatic advancement and organize data and communications with a high degree of efficiency and customer service assisting in the implementation of community development programs within the Division of School Facilities. The selected candidate will monitor and evaluate various initiatives that support not only the DOE, but NYC at large. Performs related work.

Key Relationships: Relationships will be fostered with the Division of School Facilities (DSF) staff, and with interested stakeholders regarding Mayoral Initiatives both within the DOE and within other NYC agencies.
Responsibilities
Plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates programs providing important community services through the Division of School Facilities. Works collaboratively within the agency and other City agencies to secure best outcomes.
Performs difficult work in the preparation of planning documents required for funding of mayoral initiatives. Coordinates functions among community organizations leading toward successful rollouts of community based programs to benefit NYC residents at large.
Creates tools for the evaluation of programs; performs analyses and reviews program plans; assesses current processes, and builds new systems to streamline workflow. Works cross-functionally on a routine basis to provide for the best outcomes regarding community and organizational needs.
Develops and maintains surveys to assess existing programs and plans related to facilities management and other of factors of community and organizational importance.
Assists with the rollout of major changes to school buildings, including various Mayoral initiatives present and ongoing.
Provides technical assistance and training to staff in techniques in program implementation and management.
Collaborates with DSF staff and management regarding DSF initiatives to ensure successful outcomes.
Qualification RequirementsMinimum
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
High school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as described in “1” above.
Preferred
Experience in education-related areas, personnel or administration.
Strong proficiency in data analysis.
Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
Excellent and effective data management, project planning, and communication skills.
Ability to proactively identify key issues and risks to meet short- and long-term goals.
Highly motivated and self-directed, with a history of success.
Salary$58,964 (New Hire Rate)
$67,810 - $91,533 (Incumbent - 2 years of full-time continuous City service)
(Internal candidates who are selected for this position and who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not earn less than their current salary.)
