What do I need to make chocolate bark with pretzels?

Here’s a quick reference check list of the ingredients you’ll need to make this candy bark recipe:

  • Chocolate Candi Quick – this is found in the baking aisle at your local grocery store. You could also use chocolate melting wafers as an alternative.
  • Peanut Butter Chips – found near the chocolate chips, peanut butter chips are a fantastic way to add peanut butter flavor to the bark.
  • Coconut oil or Shortening – I like to use unflavored coconut oil, as it doesn’t add any coconut flavor. You could also use a shortening, like Crisco.
  • Salted Peanuts – a great way to add some salty crunch to the bark.
  • Mini Pretzel Twists – these add some additional crunch and also make the bark look attractive when broken into pieces.
  • Mini Peanut Butter Cups – this mini cups are found in the candy aisle. The smallest of all Reese’s cups, these mini cups are approximately 1 cm in diameter. A great size for this bark. If you cannot find mini cups, using a other Reese’s cups that have been cut into pieces is a good option.

How do I make pretzel bark?

Start by lining a baking sheet with waxed paper or parchment paper. This ensures the chocolate won’t stick to the pan, and can be easily broken into pieces.

Melt the chocolate candi coating in the microwave. Also melt the peanut butter chips along with the coconut oil (or shortening.)

First, spread the chocolate coating onto the lined baking sheet. Then over the top of the chocolate, add the melted peanut butter chips. Swirl together, but don’t completely combine.

Working quickly, add on the peanuts, pretzels and peanut butter cups.

Place the pan with the bar into the freezer to let it cool and harden. Once completely firm, you can then break the bark into pieces. It is ready to enjoy.

How do I store chocolate bark?

Chocolate bark can be stored at room temperature. Store it in a resealable container, so the pretzels stay crisp and don’t become stale. The bark will keep at room temperature for up to 7 days.

The pretzel bark can also be frozen. Store in an airtight container or freezer bag. Kept frozen, the bark will keep for up to 3 months in the freezer.

When ready to defrost, let the bark come to room temperature for 2-3 hours before serving.

This bark is wonderful for about any occasion! Fantastic for watching the big game, enjoying with friends and family during movie night, or and great for serving during the holidays.
